Dear Customers and Partners…
A few short weeks ago I had the privilege of celebrating my twentieth year at CloudWave. And while I don’t often pause and reflect, this month I felt compelled to take stock. We have grown and matured together. We have been through evolutions in healthcare resulting in the inevitable digitization of healthcare records and clinical systems.
We’ve managed risks and opportunities such as hospital system consolidations, globalization, development of essential strategic partnerships, geopolitical volatility, and security threats.
Some of you have joined us as our partner or client in the last few years, but many of you have been with us for these last two decades or even longer! As I think about why I’ve remained at CloudWave for the past two decades, it’s because I believe we make a difference for our customers, and offer something unique that other companies don’t.

I’m grateful to have worked with so many of you during my first twenty years. You’ve helped us become the largest independent provider of health record hosting and cloud services in the market. Together, we’re only getting started on another amazing twenty years!

Meet Jacob Wheeler
Sales Engineer Director
Many CloudWave employees have spent their careers in healthcare IT.
Jacob Wheeler is not the person one might have expected to land at CloudWave.
As an undergraduate, Jacob studied humanities and saw a future career path residing in academia. In 2014, he was teaching undergraduate logic to philosophy and computer science students at SUNY Buffalo when a family medical emergency temporarily required his attention back in Massachusetts.
Joining CloudWave (then Park Place International) as a marketing writer and copy editor, Jacob, in addition to writing data sheets and website copy, proofread and edited the technical consultants’ reports from assessments and professional services engagements.
“What technical knowledge I have was attained by the independent research I had to do in order to sufficiently understand the reports well enough to edit them effectively.”
Fast forward to 2025. As the Director of Sales Engineering, Jacob supervises the Presales department, which is the group of sales engineers and solution architects that design solutions to solve infrastructure and security challenges for our customers.
When asked to share something interesting about himself, he admitted, “It’s awkward to self-attest to anything interesting.”
He went on to say, “I guess I can read and write Greek. Don’t attempt to have a conversation with me though. I learned ancient Homeric Greek as part of my humanities education. I’d be of no help as a tour guide in Athens!”
When asked what he likes most about working in healthcare?
“Working in healthcare makes everything more complicated – the challenges are unique and the solutions we design have to be commensurately original. The tradeoff is the rewarding result of collaborating with hospital staff who are so dedicated to delivering services to their clinicians who treat us when we need it. If you want fulfillment, help those who help others.”
