MUN Annual Conference 2026

The MEDITECH Users Network (MUN) Annual Conference 2026 will be held October 7-8, 2026 in Liverpool. The conference provides an ideal opportunity for MEDITECH users to learn more about the MEDITECH developments, implementations and innovative solutions directly from their peers and have a chance to catch up with how member organizations are using MEDITECH to its best advantage. On Wednesday, October 7, from 2:15-2:45 PM in Mezzanine 1, Jacob Wheeler, Director of Sales Engineering, CloudWave, and CJ Fay, Senior Manager, Technical Support, MEDITECH, will present “The Voice on the Phone Isn’t the Doctor: Defending Healthcare Against AI-Powered Attacks.”

The session will explore why the heuristics for detecting phishing attacks need updating. The email with poor grammar is gone. In its place: a voicemail in your CMO’s voice asking the help desk to reset her MFA, a flawless email thread that picks up mid-conversation between a nurse manager and a vendor, and reconnaissance-driven lures that reference last week’s go-live by name. AI has collapsed the cost of credible, personalized social engineering — and healthcare, with its high-trust culture, shift-change handoffs, and shared workstations, is uniquely exposed.

This session moves past the hype to examine what AI-enabled attacks actually look like inside hospitals and health systems today. Jacob and CJ will dissect real-world attack patterns: deepfake voice calls targeting pharmacy and help desk staff, AI-crafted phishing tuned to specific EHRs, and malware-free intrusions where attackers simply log in with credentials harvested at scale.
