A Note from Matt Donahue

Continuous Improvement in the Cloud

With the arrival of spring, we tend to take a fresh look at our environment. Our home and yards might need a good spring cleaning or perhaps a renovation.

With IT, we need to keep that perspective year-round. At CloudWave, we’ve adopted a culture of continuous improvement, where we regularly analyze processes, performance, and technologies used in our OpSus cloud to identify opportunities to make incremental improvements.

Keeping the OpSus cloud secure has always been our central focus, and we are constantly seeking new ways to safeguard against evolving threats. We’ve recently made additional protection layers available to strengthen your security stance further. These enhancements are now accessible and affordable for healthcare organizations, and we are pleased to share them.

Server Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for OpSus Live
Compromised credentials are the number one cause of a breach, and multi-factor authentication prevents compromised credentials from being utilized, so CloudWave is making server MFA available as an option for all OpSus Live customers. In addition to identity authentication and password rotation, server MFA provides robust and detailed auditing – providing transparency, accountability, and security.

Ransomware and Malware Detection for OpSus Backup
Ransomware and other types of malware are silent killers, so we’ve added a ransomware detection mechanism to scan your backups as they are written to OpSus. Now available in Beta, this feature is designed to detect 2200+ cataloged ransomware strains before they are written to your backups.

Keeping your organization safe continues to be our top priority. CloudWave is proud to provide a superior level of security to our on-premises and cloud customers at an affordable cost.

As the seasons march on, we’ll continue to examine and evaluate our solutions, finding those opportunities to make incremental changes that ensure we’re providing the best possible technologies and customer experience.

Matt Donahue is the Chief Technology Officer for CloudWave.

Meet Susan Shive
Customer Success Manager

Many CloudWave employees have spent their careers in healthcare IT.

As a CloudWave Customer Success Management (CSM) team member, Susan focuses on enhancing the overall customer experience.

“CloudWave is committed to removing obstacles for our clients and identifying innovative ways to support them in achieving their goals.”

After moving to rural West Virginia from Maryland in 1984, Susan’s journey in healthcare began within a community hospital, where she served as director of Computer Services for 13 years.

“At that time, clinical systems were just being developed and adopted by hospitals,” she explained.

Susan worked closely with individual departments to first understand the operations of their departments and then collaborate with them to computerize what made sense.

“During my 13 years there, our computer system went from a financial-only system to an all-inclusive system that integrated the clinical data with the financial data.”

Susan then joined an EHR vendor, now Allscripts. As an interface programmer and network engineer, Susan worked on interoperability for labs, radiology, medical records, and CCDs for hospitals, including Christus Hospital. Susan joined CloudWave in 2021.

What does Susan like most about working in healthcare?

“Serving my neighbors, friends, and even myself, healthcare became deeply personal. This connection with patients has remained a cornerstone of my career. Today, while collaborating with hospitals nationwide, I believe every patient represents someone’s cherished community member. It’s my passion to leverage this extensive knowledge acquired over nearly 40 years, contributing to CloudWave’s mission of delivering tailored solutions and support to our valued customers.”

When not engaged in work-related activities, Susan enjoys bird photography, quilting, stained glass work, and gardening.
