A Note from Matt Donahue

Customer Appreciation

As November is in full swing, many of us are starting to think about family gatherings and the preparations needed for Thanksgiving dinner near or far. In the Donahue household, we hold two Thanksgiving meals: one for the family and Friendsgiving on the Saturday after. Our weekend usually includes food, football, and our favorite, eggnog.

In September, we were fortunate to meet with some of you in Foxborough before MEDITECH Live, and as always, it was so valuable to listen and hear what you need from CloudWave as we go into 2024.

Continuing to optimize your EHR, strengthening your Cybersecurity stance, and implementing AI policies, all while you are supporting a remote workforce and on the hunt for IT talent, we know your plates are full.

Many of our healthcare customers will spend the long weekend supporting their clinical staff in hospitals as they care for patients. Know that CloudWave remains committed to healthcare and will continue to innovate and evolve OpSus Cloud Services and Sensato Cybersecurity Services to meet the needs of healthcare organizations.

As many also take this time to reflect on what we are thankful for, here at CloudWave, we never forget that our customers are why we do what we do. Year after year, our customers help inspire CloudWave to be a better healthcare cloud partner than we were the year before. We are thankful for all of you.

Matt Donahue is the Chief Technology Officer at CloudWave.

Meet Jose DePina
Principal Cloud Engineer

Many CloudWave employees have spent their careers in healthcare IT.

As a Principal Cloud Engineer for CloudWave’s OpSus Cloud Infrastructure Team for the past five years, Jose DePina’s role has touched a wide range of services, including Virtualization, Storage, Compute Systems, Fabric Infrastructure, Release Management, Security, Disaster Recovery, Backups, and Implementation/Migration Automation.

Jose claims this has made CloudWave the “perfect fit.”

In 2009, seeing how fast Healthcare IT was advancing, Jose decided to start a career in Healthcare IT after meeting with CloudWave’s CTO, Matthew Donahue, at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. He knew engineers were always looking for ways to improve services, so being open-minded to learning about many different technologies would be an asset.

“I started working at CloudWave as an On-premises Implementation Engineer in 2012. I was then presented with the opportunity to transfer to the Cloud Division in 2017.”

Jose is looking forward to marrying his fiancé, Ana, next year. They have two sons, aged 8 and 2. Jose spends much time with his family and friends when not focusing on IT. He enjoys road cycling and tends to go out for a ride most mornings on the South Shore of Massachusetts.

“One of my favorite places to visit is my hometown of Praia, Cape Verde, in West Africa, where I was born.”

What does Jose enjoy most about working in healthcare?

“I feel empowered to go above and beyond for our customers. Listening to a customer’s concern about extended downtimes and having the ability to apply certain levels of automation to shrink a 7-hour downtime to 3 or 4 hours gives me the sense that I am a mini-superhero to the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff who regain access to their systems earlier than expected.”
