OpSus Recover Overview

The OpSus Recover service restores your data to a cloud environment prebuilt and licensed for your configuration. In the event of a natural disaster, business disruption, or cybersecurity event where facilities become unavailable and a formal disaster declaration occurs, OpSus Recover provides temporary remote operations and access to hosted systems to enable business continuity until hospital data center operations and data can be restored.

OpSus Recover can restore your applications and data to CloudWave’s private healthcare cloud, or to your choice of public cloud. CloudWave takes responsibility for design, project management, implementation, testing, ongoing support, and change control in partnership with each hospital. OpSus Recover uses a disciplined approach to pre-build secure network connectivity for users, devices, and interfaces at each customer. A structured, carefully managed implementation process results in a validating test at the launch of the service, with testing repeated annually or more often as each customer’s audit process requires.

OpSus Recover is available in multiple recovery point and recovery time objectives ready to meet any specific requirements for your applications. No matter how recent you need the data and how quickly you need it restored, OpSus Recover can help.

Services include:

  • Computing Infrastructure – OpSus Recover includes all physical and virtual compute infrastructure, including the provisioning and management of the guest operating system.
  • Storage Tiers – Storage is provided for backups of your data and for your active environment during a test or a true disaster. Storage is available in multiple tiers to satisfy requirements for application performance.
  • Infrastructure Support – CloudWave provides full management and support of OpSus Recover services in the cloud. CloudWave will monitor capacity and performance thresholds for critical components.
  • Monitoring and Support – In the event of a Disaster Declaration, CloudWave will provide 24×7 monitoring of critical OpSus Recover components and infrastructure support and provide incident and problem management services.

Disaster Declaration Process:

  • Disaster Declaration – OpSus Recover services are triggered with a signed Disaster Declaration Form.
  • CloudWave Acknowledge and Acceptance – CloudWave communicates with the Customer to assess the severity of the disaster to ensure appropriate response and quickly rescue the environment.
  • OpSus Recovery – The most recent backup* to have successfully replicated to OpSus is restored to the prebuilt cloud environment and access is made available to the hospital within the agreed upon Recovery Time Objective.
  • Disaster Recovery Testing – CloudWave will periodically restore your environment and grant access to a small set of test users. This testing is vital in ensuring success when the time comes and establishing accountability for you and your auditors.

Service Continuity and Return to Normal Operations:

  • Operating in OpSus Live – Customer may operate from the OpSus Recover environment for up to 90 days.
  • Return to Normal Operations – OpSus Recover customers can opt to stay hosted in the cloud with a seamless transition to the OpSus Live service or choose to return to on-premises operations for a nominal migration fee.

Features

OpSus Recover establishes data replication from the customer’s primary data center to the designated recovery site in the cloud. Upon declaration of a disaster, CloudWave’s Disaster Response team will initiate restoration of customer data from the most recent copy of customer data.*

During the term of the disaster, the OpSus team performs daily operations, including performing backups and disaster recovery replications, facilitating end-user access, and managing system performance.

After the disaster has been remediated, the customer may elect to remain running in the cloud or CloudWave will assist in a return migration to the recovered on-premises environment.

*Occasionally, when the disaster is affected by the presence of malware, the most recent backup may not be deemed safe and recovery is performed from a more distant save-set.


Supported Software

CloudWave will accept, support, and manage all operating systems of any version still supported by its OEM. Any software which has been relegated to End of Life status (e.g. Windows Server 2008) must be upgraded before a migration to OpSus.

FAQs

What is the Disaster Declaration Process?

  1. Whether CloudWave or Customer are first to observe a suspected disaster, both organizations will immediately communicate to share their findings and deconflict their testing methods.
  2. When a disaster is confirmed, CloudWave will officially “declare a disaster.”
  3. Customer will sign and return the Disaster Declaration Form to CloudWave, enabling CloudWave to activate the OpSus Live support and recovery environment.

What contractual and fee changes occur after Disaster Declaration?

  • A one-time, per Disaster Recovery Fee is incurred, but will be waived once Recovery Mode Fees equal or exceed Declaration Fee (see Proposal for details).
  • While in recovery, your data and operations are actively managed in the OpSus Live environment. During this time [maximum of 90 days], your fees will be at the OpSus Live rate with no contract change required (see Proposal for details).
  • If Customer intends to remain in the OpSus Live environment beyond 90 days, a new contract may be required to convert existing services to an OpSus Live service agreement (see Proposal for details).

Where is the Disaster Declaration form?

The Disaster Declaration Form is included with the OpSus Recover SLA and provided during the onboarding phase.

How is the disaster event managed?

After CloudWave declares a disaster and receives the signed Disaster Declaration Form, an all hands call is initiated. The all hands call is internal to CloudWave and remains ongoing to ensure recovery is the primary focus for all CloudWave technical staff. Communication with Customer will be regular and set at an interval both organizations find helpful.

What are my restoration options?

  1. If Customer intends to remain in the OpSus Live environment, a new contract may be negotiated to convert existing services to an OpSus Live service agreement.
  2. If Customer chooses to return operations to original or another site, a migration fee is incurred at a rate equal to Customer’s OpSus Live monthly rate (see Proposal for details).

How do I access my environment at OpSus?

Remote access is enabled through an encrypted VPN link.

Does CloudWave need access to my Active Directory?

Yes, during implementation CloudWave will work with you to setup your Active Directory in the OpSus environment.

What happens during the initial and annual disaster test?

Once a year, or as contracted, CloudWave and customer will exercise a mock disaster and follow the declaration and recovery procedures. The test runs for five business days and includes a checkpoint each day to assess performance and report findings.

If my environment is in “recovery” are my backups still going?

Yes, CloudWave continues to perform nightly backups of your environment while you are recovering.


SLAs

This Service Level Agreement (SLA) is incorporated by reference into Customer’s Proposal and is subject to the Master Terms and Conditions. This SLA provides Cloud Wave’s commitment to Customer for the Services selected by Customer from the options and at the Tier described below, as set forth in Customer’s Proposal.
